摘要
Objectives To identify the efficacy of the colloids administration in different volumes in prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) after laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). Patients and Methods This study included 102 female patients in the age group 18-60 years, ASA grade 1 and II who underwent elective LC under general anaesthesia fom June first 2010 to June first 2011 at Jordanian Royal Medical Services. Patients were randomly allocated to receive intravenously 10 ml/kg (group I), 20 ml/kg (group II) of colloid solution (Hydroxyethyl starch). Each group comprised of 51 patients. Heart rate, blood pressure, SpO(2) and EtCO2 were monitored. Visual analogue scale (VAS) score for nausea and vomiting was recorded. Results Demographic data (age, weight and average duration of surgery) was comparable amongst the two groups. In early postoperative period. VAS score for nausea was highe in group 1 as compared to groups II. Vomiting and the need for anti-emetics was more in group I (43%) compared to group II (17.6%). Thirst (31% in group!, 18% in group II) and dizziness (8% in group 1 and 2 % in group II) were more in group I. Conclusion Intravascular volume deficits may be a factor in PONV in patients undergoing LC and preloading with colloids showed a lower incidence of PONV. Intravenous administration of colloid 20 ml/kg to healthy women undergoing LC reduced the incidence of PONV and anti-emetic use when compared with10 ml/kg of the same solution.
