INFLUENCE OF TEST CONDITIONS AND SHEET-METAL THICKNESS ON ERICHSEN CUPPING VALUES OF STAINLESS-STEELS

摘要
The accuracy and reproducibility of the Erichsen cupping test was investigated on 0. 5 to 2. 0 mm sheet metal specimens of an austenitic and a ferritic stainless steel. The effects of material, test conditions, and testing machines on the results were statistically evaluated. From more than 20,000 measurements obtained in routine operations control, the dependence of cupping values (T) on sheet gage (d) was found by regression analysis to be T equals 10. 22 plus 3. 29 d minus 1. 96 d**2 plus 0. 44 d**3 mm for steel X5CrNi189, and T equals 7. 01 plus 3. 05 d minus 0. 66 d**2 mm for steel X8Cr17.
