摘要
Chromium(VI) oxidation of antimony(III) in an alkaline medium follows a second order rate law with negative fractional dependence on [OH-]. The active species are CrO42+ and SbO+ and the negative dependence on [OH-] is due to the formation of SbO+ from antimony hydroxide species. The effect of ionic strength, solvent polarity, added complexing agent and ions is also studied. Activation parameters have also been evaluated.
