In July 1994, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Reactor Safety (BMU) presented the survey of notifiable events in nuclear power plants in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1993. Since 1975, notifiable events in nuclear power plants in the Federal Republic of Germany have been reported to the supervisory authorities under the Atomic Energy Act in accordance with the standardized national reporting criteria valid at that time, and have been entered into a centrally managed list. The 1993 version of the reporting criteria for notifiable events in plants for nuclear fission entered into force for nationwide application on July 1, 1991. These criteria have become part of the Ordinance about Nuclear Safety Commissioners and about Reporting of Accidents and other Events when the Ordinance was promulgated in the German Federal Gazette, Part I, No. 48, on October 23, 1992.
