MAGNETOTUNNELING THROUGH QUANTUM BOXES IN A STRONG-CORRELATION REGIME

Lateral tunnelling through a quantum box in the presence of a magnetic field is analysed including electron-electron interaction without- any restriction for the spin configuration. When the Zeeman energy is large enough to resolve single-particle degeneracies, we propose a simple approach for the dot-lead coupling. In such a case, the linear conductance at zero temperature as a function of the Fermi energy in the leads consists of a set of peaks related to changing by one the electron occupancy in the box. We find that the width of the peak is a single-particle feature, their position depend on all the many-body contributions while the height is given by correlation effects. We compute the conductance for several cases finding that correlation effects dominate the whole process.
