THE V2O5 SURFACE PHONON-SPECTRUM

摘要
The surface phonon loss spectrum of V2O5(001) was analysed by comparing it with a theoretical simulation based on the dielectric theory and the known infrared parameters for the vibrational modes. Optimisation of the simulation led to the discovery of 3 additional B1u modes, while the initial parameters were adjusted to yield an excellent fit of the experimental spectrum. Eventually, this set of HREEL parameters is found to describe the surface response of the specimen rather than its bulk properties.
