摘要：
Potamonautes dentatus, new species, a fresh-water crab from the Mgeni River, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is characterized by strongly denticulate anterolateral margins and the presence of a notch in the postfrontal crest posterior to the exorbital tooth. The new species is compared to other potamonautid species occurring in the region. Of the 12 morphometric relationships examined, 9 dimensions exhibited allometric growth: wet weight, anterior and posterior width of the carapace, body depth, and abdominal width in both sexes, length (in males) and width of the merus of pereiopod 2 for both sexes combined, and major cheliped propodus length and height in both sexes. Sexual dimorphism was demonstrated for wet weight, abdominal width, major cheliped propodus length and height, and length of the merus of pereiopod 2.
