The affiliation of our country to the European Union did not make us to strongly affirm that we are Europeans, if first we cannot feel that we are Romanians. Moreover, we cannot state about ourselves that we are Romanians if we do not understand what this really means, that is why I consider necessary to know our past, our history and, to preserve our traditional values. The American linguist, Edward Sapir, said that: "Language is the biggest socializing force, probably the biggest from all that exist", which confirms the fact that language is extremely important for a nation's identity; it is the instrument through which the conscience of a nation is expressed. Furthermore, for our most important poet, Mihai Eminescu, "Language is the ethnic soul of the Romanians". For the Romanian diaspora or "carriers of the Romanian culture" as named by the researcher Maria Ispas, the Romanian language represents a constant and unifying agent, a beneficial and positive connector meant to preserve the Romanian identity. In this context, the Romanian Ministry of National Education and the Romanian Language Institute provide language, culture and civilization courses for the Romanian communities, especially for the children that study in Spanish schools, to help them practice and improve their communication skills in the Romanian language.
