I've been working from some years in an unconcluded project, despite some results have already been published: the resurgence of Brazilian female writers from the 19th century. After finding of texts, the work begins with comparisons with canonic literature and analysis of genre and characteristics. In this article, my primary purpose was to study the reasons of the choice of the gothic style, which always attracted the attention of English and French female writers (18th and 19th centuries), by the Brazilian writers.
