摘要
Jute stick powder was cyanoethylated to different degrees of substitution by a two-step process. The degree of cyanoethylation increased with increase in temperature and concentration of alkali. The optimum concentration of alkali was found to be 25% to obtain highly substituted products. From IR studies, the absorbance ratio at 2900 cm-1 to 3350 cm-1 was found to increase with increasing the nitrogen content and alkali concentration upto 25% and then it levels off.
