摘要
Aluminum borate, 9Al2O3.2B2O3 or Al18B4O33, was synthesized by the reaction of stoichiometric amounts of alpha-Al2O3 and B2O3. The Al18B4O33 Material was formed into a dense ceramic by pressureless sintering with CaO, MgO, or CaAl2B2O7 additives. The material was characterized by low bulk density, moderate coefficient of thermal expansion (3 x 10(-6)/degrees-C to 5 x 10(-6)/degrees-C), moderate strength (210 to 324 MPa), and low dielectric constant.
