摘要
Measurements made in a layer of staircase structure in the western tropical Atlantic demonstrated that amplitudes of horizontal velocity oscillations of high-frequency internal waves were essentially lower than at other levels. An influence of turbulent viscosity on internal waves characteristics is discussed. It is shown that turbulent viscosity leads to the transformation of velocity eigenfunctions for internal waves. The layer under thermocline is characterized by small amplitude of horizontal velocity oscillations.
