摘要
Technology and innovation management (TIM) is a new yet burgeoning discipline. Since the late 1980s, it has been an autonomous academic community separated from strategic management following changes in industry structures and economic conditions. In this paper, we aim to analyze and review the development of TIM studies in Taiwan through three common perspectives of strategic management-voluntarism, determinism, and interactionism. Articles on TIM published during 2000 similar to 2014 were drawn from eight TSSCI business-related journals for comparison. Our analysis shows that Taiwanese scholars tend to emphasize the voluntaristic view of TIM activities, while intentionally or unintentionally ignoring the possibility of interactionist explanations. Given the specificity of Taiwan's national contexts and richness of theoretical perspectives, there is an imperative need to bring interactionism back into the scholarly community at least in Taiwan in the future.
