EXTENDED BWR EQUATION OF STATE FOR FLUOROCARBONS, CHLOROFORM AND CARBON-TETRACHLORIDE

An extended BWR equation of state with five polar parameters is applied to chloroform, carbon tetrachloride and 23 fluorocarbons belonging to methane, ethane or cyclic series. The polar parameters are mainly determined by using both the second virial coefficient and experimental vapor pressure data. The results show that they are weak in polarity despite their strong dipole moments. Prediction using these polar parameters reveals that absolute deviations for vapor pressure, PVT and enthalpy of a vapor phase are less than 1 % and a few percent for PVT and enthalpy of a liquid phase and for saturated vapor and liquid densities and latent heat of vaporization. Comparing 4 kinds of databases and experimental data, we could see inconsistencies among them at low temperatures and near the critical temperature.
