摘要
The proliferative response in the popliteal lymph nodes of rats after antigen injection in the foot pad was quantitated. The several antigens tested, bacterial flagella, sheep red blood cells, human albumin, and two antigens with adjuvant activity, complete Freund's adjuvant and endotoxin, all caused marked increases in the cellular content of the draining node, measured in terms of node DNA. Comparable increases in thymidine-3H incorporation into DNA were observed. Xylene caused a transitory increase in DNA synthesis. Capture of circulating lymphocytes apparently was not a significant factor in the increase in lymph node mass. A local inflammatory response was not necessary for the response. © 1969.
