Among syndromes of the extremities, Raynaud's phenomenon of occupational origin constitutes a special entity as it may occur in three different diseases: (1) vibration syndrome which is very common, usually follows a benign course and is compatible with professional activity; (2) microtraumatic aneurysm of the ulnar artery which is more servere as it may be complicated by emboli in the digital arteries and digital gangrene; this disease demands a change of occupation, and, revascularization surgery with resection of the aneurysm and venous grafts may be contemplated; (3) vinyl chloride intoxication the clinical manifestations of which resemble those of scleroderma.
