摘要
Objective To determine the frequency of non-biliary complications encountered during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Patients and Methods This prospective study included all the patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy during a five years period at Chandka Medical College Hospital Larkana, Pakistan. Non biliary complications were recorded in all patients. Results A total 2189 patients were included in the study. Frequency of access related injuries was: port site bleeding in 51(2.32%), small bowl laceration in 4(0.18%), small bowel perforation in 5(0.22%) and subcutaneous emphysema at port site in 131(5.98%). Frequency of procedure related complications was: subcapsular hematoma in 3 (0.13%) and duodenal perforation in 8 (0.36%) patients. Conclusion Non-biliary complications may be encountered while accessing the peritoneal cavity or during the procedure. These can be avoided by adopting open method for creating pneumoperitoneum and careful dissection.
