摘要
Calcification of the tendons in the shoulder usually affects the rotator cuff; however, until now, biceps tendon calcification has rarely been reported. In the case described here of a 74-year-old female patient with progressive shoulder pain at rest and when moving, areas of calcified deposits were established around the capsule of the supraglenoid recess and the biceps anchor using a combination of X-ray and magnetic resonance imaging. After arthroscopic calcium deposit removal, a biceps tenotomy was carried out because of the reduction in volume of the long head of the biceps tendon. In addition, significant subacromial bursitis necessitated acromioclavicular joint resection. The patient was largely pain-free 6 weeks postoperatively. © 2015, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
