INTERACTION BETWEEN ADATOMS AND ITS RELATION TO THE POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE AT A METAL-ELECTROLYTE INTERFACE

摘要
An examination is made of the interactions of coupled atoms and ions adsorbed on metal surfaces using the polar approximation method in an integral equation of the Lippmann-Schwinger type. The interactions are found to depend chiefly on teh type of metal spectrum and the adatom electron structures. A theory is advanced to interpret a number of experimentally observed facts, particularly a remote oscillatory interaction between the adatoms.
