摘要：

In this paper, the concept of a fuzzy set is extended by introducing the concept of a fuzzy irreducible ideal in a ring. The characteristic function of an irreducible ideal and the level ideals of a fuzzy irreducible ideal are studied. The algebraic nature of homomorphic images and preimages of fuzzy irreducible ideals is also examined. Some other fundamental results pertaining to this concept are discussed.
