EVIDENCE FOR DIFFERENT SPATIAL-DISTRIBUTION OF PINNED VORTICES AND SCREENING CURRENTS

We have investigated by SQUID magnetometry several YBaCuO sintered samples. After field cooling the sample, and having carefully compensated the remanent FC dc magnetization we observed a signal with the quadrupolar characteristic shape. It demonstrates clearly the presence of two magnetic contributions of opposite sign whose barycenters do not coincide. They are identified with the spatial distribution of the screening currents and of the pinned vortices. The role played by the intergranular Josephson junctions in the vortex pinning during the field cooling procedure is also briefly illustrated.
