摘要
In the capitalist mode of production, food is seen as goods, rather than as nourishment that keeps life and generates health. The prevalence of "food as goods" implies non-sustainable relations in a socio-environmental point. In order to meet market demands, food has gotten poorer and poorer in terms of nutrition since several pollutants and harmful additives have been added to it by conventional production, processing and industrialization. The struggle of critical-transforming Environmental Education is to break this logic and develop a different society based on really sustainable relations. This paper aims at reflecting upon some issues which may be important to understand the need for deep changes in the way we eat so that our health and our environment can benefit from them.
