- [34] Q: Sometimes brazed parts are damaged or even destroyed during heating due to melting of a base metal in contact with materials of a fixture or with another base metal when dissimilar metals are brazed. Recent cases (Figs. 1 and 2) show melting of carbon steel in contact with a graphite tray (Fig. 1) and melting of a titanium part contacted with the nickel foil (Fig. 2).
