摘要
Coffee cultivars being grown in Hawaii were evaluated for their susceptibility to two species of nematode found in Hawaiian coffee-growing areas. Rotylenchulus reniformis and Meloidogyne incognita were isolated from coffee soils and used to inoculate potted coffee seedlings. The seedling root masses were later inspected for level of nematode infection and egg production. All coffee cultivars tested supported only low levels of infection and reproduction of the two nematode species compared with tomato, the susceptible control. This information, as well as results of previous field surveys, formed the basis for concluding that these species do not currently pose a threat to Hawaiian coffee plantations. Strict quarantine regulations and field surveys will continue.
