摘要
Arsenic is a semimetal which ranks among the most dangerous pollutants. Exploration of arsenic in groundwater and its behavior in the environment has increased significantly over the last decade. Today, the problems with arsenic are registered in many countries in different geological environments. Although concentrations of arsenic in drinking water are generally low, in some circumstances they may significantly exceed the prescribed concentrations and cause a potentially significant risk to human health. Elevated concentrations of arsenic in groundwater may be caused by anthropogenic and natural influences. Anthropogenic impacts can be easily explained, unlike some natural conditions, where this is much harder. This paper presents an overview of some research conducted over the past decade in areas affected by arsenic from natural sources, and indicates to many uncertainties that need to be addressed in the future.
