STRUCTURE OF AU ULTRAFINE PARTICLES IN SILICA GLASS - X-RAY-DIFFRACTION STUDY

摘要
Structure of ultrafine gold particles embedded in silica glass has been studied by the x-ray diffraction method. It is found that the gold particles have an effective temperature factor of 1.84 angstrom-2 and include a few layers of plane faults. It is deduced that the gold particles in silica glass are highly defective owing to the mismatch of the thermal expansion coefficient.
