摘要
A simple and inexpensive device utilizing the principle of delayed sound transmission was constructed to provide a means of delay for an analog signal. This device consisted of three main parts; (1) a pulse frequency modulator, (2) delay unit consisting of a vinyl tube, to each end of which a crystal earphone was attached, and (3) a demodulator. The carrier pulses of the pulse frequency modulator were frequency modulated by the input analog signal. Then, these carrier pulses were converted into sound by the earphone at the sending terminal of the delay line, and propagated through the vinyl tube. The demodulator was used to demodulate the carrier pulses after they were picked up by the earphone at the receiving end of the tube. The 30 msec delay of the analog signal was established by the use of three coiled vinyl tubes 3·4 m long. © 1969 International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering.
