OBSERVATION OF CATASTROPHIC SELF-PROPELLED SELF-FOCUSING IN OPTICAL FIBERS

摘要
Observation of what appears to be a new guided-wave phenomenon which causes optical damage to the entire optical fiber transmission path at relatively low optical power levels is reported. Damage to the core manifests itself as periodic restructuring of the region, similar to that seen in self-focusing.
