摘要
The assessment of causal connections between organic and psychiatric health disorders on the one hand and external strains or their effects on the other hand, plays a prominent role in the application of social law and therefore, also in the practice of medical assessment. In this connection legal judgments and expert opinions are fraught with substantial difficulties, the main reason for which is the limited ability to objectify causative correlations. The situation is further complicated by the fact that legal prerequisites and specialist knowledge are not always compatible. This is the background why both possible types (determined and undetermined) are confronted with each other and why they are discussed with respect to their different causality characteristics.
