摘要：

Experimental data on the temperatures of the beginning of interaction interaction between some solid oxides of alkali-earth and heavy metals are given. A hypothesis is advanced which considers the concept of the induction period of a reaction as the time of lattice ''loosening'', the imperfection increasing up to the critical state when the reaction starts off. Conceivable causes of different reactivity of oxides on interaction with sulfur and carbon are discussed.
