INVESTIGATIONS ON OPTICAL-PATTERNS IN A LINBO3 CRYSTAL BY USING A MEF3 METALLOSCOPE

摘要：
The optical patterns on X, Y, and Z sections of a LiNbO3 (LN) crystal have been observed by using a MeF3 metalloscope. It is found that the forms of the optical patterns correspond to those of the etching patterns, and are identical to the crystal symmetry. This is a new and convenient optical method using the optical patterns to determine the axes and polarity of LN crystals.
