摘要
The Gresens method allows quantitative study of the volume change and the mass transfer of chemical components in rocks during alteration processes. This method has been programmed in Think Pascal (version 3.02) for Macintosh microcomputers. The program compares the densities and the chemical analyses of the original and the altered rock and calculates volume change and the gains and losses of oxides or elements (major and trace) when any chemical component is assumed immobile during alteration. It plots composition volume diagrams and isocon diagrams that allow a reference frame to be selected for mass-balance calculations. Results can be stored in Tab-Text-Files and MacPaint files that can be accessed with spreadsheet, word processor, or graphic software.
