MINIMAL-SURFACES IN SYMMETRICAL SPACES AND DYNAMICS OF MEMBRANES IN NON-ABELIAN GAUGE-FIELDS

摘要
A geometrical description of the dynamics of membranes coupled to non-abelian gauge fields and to gravitation is proposed. It uses dimensional reduction of a Kaluza-Klein space. The motion of membranes corresponds to minimal surfaces of this space and the conserved surface currents associated with the gauge group satisfy a generalized London equation.
