COMPLEX PEROXOVANADATES(V) CONTAINING CHELATED CYSTEINATE AS THE CO-LIGAND - SYNTHESIS AND SPECTROSCOPIC STUDIES

Synthesis of oxoperoxo (L-cysteinato)vanadate(V), A2[V2O2(O2)3(cysH)2].H2O (A=NH, or K), by the reaction of vanadium(V) with H2O2 and L-cysteine at pH 2.5 to 3, is reported. The compounds have been characterized by chemical analyses and spectral studies. The co-ligand occurs in the complex as cysteinate and binds the metal bidentately through O and S atoms. A comparison of the complex with that of its glycine analogue has been made.
