Glucose-6-phosphatase [EC 3. 1. 3. 9] activity of kidney microsomes was increased by injection of parathyroid hormone into rats. This increase appears to be due to a specific and direct action of parathyroid hormone because it was not observed in the liver and the effect of parathyroid hormone was independent of adrenocortical function. The increase in enzyme activity on injection of the hormone may be due to both increase in enzyme and a functional change of the microsomal membrane, and is dependent on RNA and protein syntheses. © 1969 BY THE JOURNAL OF BIOCHEMISTRY.
