摘要
The thermal conductivity of natural quartz crystals irradiated with γ‐rays from a 60Co source at room temperature with doses between 106 and 108 Rad is measured at temperatures between 1.5 and 10 K. Analysis of the data shows that the reduced thermal conduction in smoky quartz is due to extended defects, dislocations, and point defects created by the radiation and not to resonant phonon scattering by the distributed two level systems associated with the Al–hole color center.
