A SENSITIVE TORQUE MAGNETOMETER FOR MEASUREMENT OF SMALL MAGNETIC ANISOTROPIES

摘要
This paper describes an automatic torque magnetometer with a sensitivity of 1 nN m per cm deflection, for the measurement of very small magnetic anisotropies (of the order of 0·1 mJ kg-1) in the presence of large values of magnetic moment. This high sensitivity is obtained because of a new frictionless method used to eliminate unwanted lateral displacements of the specimen suspended in an inhomogeneous magnetic field.
