EFFECT OF GENOTYPE AND SOWING DATE ON THE LEAF-AREA OF WINTER BARLEY

In agrotechnical trial the assimilation area of four winter barley varieties - Kompolti korai, Kompolti 4. Rachel, Igri - was studied over 1986-88 by measuring the total leaf area per main shoot and the leaf area per leaf-zone. The obtained data show besides the differences due to genotypes the effect of various sowing dates and the differences caused by the various years. Out of the varieties the variety Rachel has the largest assimilation area. The late sowing date resulted in a considerable decrease (8-47%) of the leaf area.
