Wilsonian idealism in american foreign policy. A recurring doctrine?

Wilsonian idealism is one of the most influential and relevant guiding phylosophies of the American Foreign Policy. Its importance stays in the Discourse and Doctrines of the United States and other actors of the International Scene. This article analyze the historical evolution of Wilsonian idealism; showing that the actual version that "Interventionist Liberals" and "Third Generation Neoconservatives" have claimed as own, has deep differences with the original version created by President Wilson and the alternative version of post-Second World War. The article also exposes the resistance adopted by alternative ideological groups such as the "realists" and the critics motivated by the results of that policy. Any case, the Wilsonian Idealism, given the actual sources of Legitimacy and the offical discourse of the West, will mantain its enormous influence in the future foreign policy of the Western Countries.
