摘要
Measurement assurance is a structured process designed to ensure that measurements are adequate for their intended use. The assurance is achieved by implementing a set of activities, known as a measurement assurance program, which cut across three disciplines: quality management, metrology, and statistics. This paper briefly describes these activities and focuses on the role of statistics in such a program. It identifies the various statistical techniques that contribute to measurement assurance and points to international statistical standards, both published and in-progress, that support these techniques. Finally, the paper identifies important areas where statistical contributions are needed given the sophistication of modern measurement technology.
