A COMPARISON OF ESR AND LIF HYDROXYL RADICAL MEASUREMENTS IN FLAME

For the first time, a direct comparison between Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) and Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) techniques is performed by measuring absolute OH mole fractions in a premixed low-pressure methanol/air flame. LIF profiles are performed in presence of the probe and are calibrated using laser-absorption. An experimental procedure, devoted to take into account the probe perturbation, is described. The agreement between ESR and LIF profiles is excellent both in shape and absolute value.
