VISCOUS INTERACTION WITH OSCILLATING PIEZOELECTRIC QUARTZ CRYSTALS

摘要
A model relating the equivalent circuit parameters of a quartz crystal to the viscous energy dissipation is developed from a solution of Stokes' second problem and compared to experimental data. The model overestimates the equivalent resistance. The surface oscillation amplitude is estimated to be of the order of 2 X 10(-12) m, therefore the assumptions of continuity and no surface slip used in the model derivation are invalid. An alternate modelling approach is suggested.
