摘要
Methodologies for preparation of plant samples for high precision nitrogen isotope ratio analysis are described, including detailed attention to Kjeldhal digestion, steam distillation, concentration of distillates, and generation of nitrogen gas (N2) from ammonium sulfate [(NH4)2SO4]. Apparatus developed in the authors laboratory is illustrated. Using a systematic approach to the assessment of errors associated with each of the steps in preparation and analysis procedures, the methods outlined in this paper are shown capable of determining deltaN-15 in plant material with a precision of -+/0.2 parts per thousand.
