摘要
The consequences of neutron decay in a direct-current magnetic field are investigated from the point of view of angular correlations. It is shown that a simultaneous determination of the three correlation coefficients a, A, and B is possible by measuring the asymmetries of electron and proton emission, including a new type of asymmetry-the combined charged-particle asymmetry. Analytic expressions are presented for calculating the coefficients in terms of these asymmetries, the electron energies, and the size of the detectors. It is demonstrated that the neutron lifetime and the correlation coefficients can be measured simultaneously in the same experiment.
