ON VIBRATIONS OF THIN ROTATING LAMINATED COMPOSITE CYLINDRICAL-SHELLS

摘要
In this paper, a theoretical analysis is presented to study the vibrations of thin rotating laminated cylindrical shells. The analysis is carried out using Love's first approximation theory and it includes the effects of initial hoop tension and the centrifugal and coriolis forces. The results for the frequency characteristics of thin rotating laminated composite cylindrical shells and the influence of the thickness-to-radius ratio, length-to-radius ratio and also the lamination angle on the fundamental frequencies are presented. A frequency equation of quadratic order for infinitely long rotating laminated cylindrical shells is also deduced and presented which can be easily solved to give the natural frequencies. The natural frequencies obtained from this equation are also shown to be as accurate as those obtained from solving the full frequency equation. To validate the present analysis, comparisons are made with a non-rotating and an infinitely long rotating cylindrical shell and very good agreement is obtained.
