摘要
A ferritic filler SAW process has applied to the manufacture of UOE pipes. In order to furnish sufficient cryogenic toughness to a ferritic weld, the welding flux composition should be designed so that the oxygen and silicon content are approximately 250 ppm and 0. 25%, respectively. For preventing cold cracking, the diffusible hydrogen content should be less than 3. 5 cc/100 g of weld metal. The combination of a fused type flux (CaF//2-Al//2O//3-SiO//2 system) with a ferritic welding wire of low Si-12%Ni was adequate for satisfying the two conditions. In order to maximize cryogenic toughness of the weld metal and productivity, a quenching pattern having a holding period at 600 degree C before quenching from 790 degree C is crucial. Tempering was carried out in such a manner that the temperature was raised continuously to 600 degree C and immediately water cooled. A heating time as short as 6 min is required to reach the target temperatures, and yield a toughness as high as 10 kgf-m. (6) This rapid heat treatment technique enables the use of a high frequency induction heating system on the production line of UOE pipes.
