摘要：
This article analyzes the means in which biographical texts contributed to the construction of memory about Capistrano de Abreu, scholar in history, geography and indigenous languages, considered by many as the most important Brazilian historian of the early decades of the 20th Century. The purpose is to identify and understand the main values and images used by biographers in the making of the person's life construction, converted into an intellectual model and a national symbol.
