This paper analyses the process of creating the Italian Cultural Institute in Spain during Fascism. In 1934, the first centre of this kind was established in the city of Barcelona. However, after the Civil War a second project of greater importance was developed, with the creation of a central building in Madrid and various delegations throughout the country, taking advantage of the new political situation in Franco's Spain.
