A computer model has been developed on the line of Amatsky method for the finishing stand of BSP plate-mill. It takes into account the grade of steel, rolling temperature, design parameters like roll-diameter and input thickness of the slab or the plate to predict the roll separation force and moment of rolling. The computer model, with necessary refinements shows good correspondence between rolling load actually observed and the computer calculated one. Also a linear relationship is established between the computer calculated torque and the current load.
