摘要
We developed an inexpensive dual-frequency FM radar for polarimetric scattering measurements. The system can collect polar imetric data at 5.9 and 11 GHz over incidence angles from 0°to 60° with all four linear polarizations. It can be used for measurements at ranges from 3 to 30 m. The unique features of the system include dual-frequency offset parabolic antenna that can be focused for measurements at short ranges, phase stabilization and linearization circuitry, and an adaptive digital signal processor. This system has been and will be used for measurements over artificially grown sea ice at the U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL), in Hanover, New Hampshire. This paper discusses the design and construction of this system, with emphasis on the antenna, and presents the preliminary results from CRREL experiments. © 1990 IEEE
